When I began making these trellis yarn necklaces, I did so with a goal in mind: to soothe my nerves and help a cause. My mother-in-law was battling breast cancer at the time and was participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life (a fundraising activity to benefit cancer research efforts). With a desire to raise money for the cause, I volunteered my time to crochet these necklaces to sell toward contributing to our team’s Relay for Life’s fundraising goals.
Well, the necklaces proved a tremendous hit with customers who responded enthusiastically to their fashionable appeal and simple, easy style. I continue to raise money for the cause by donating a portion of each trellis yarn necklace purchase to Relay for Life.
I am thrilled to report that my mother-in-law’s breast cancer treatment has been successful and that she continues to be my best and most enthusiastic independent “saleslady” for the necklaces.
